The Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department is composed of your neighbors, friends and maybe even your relatives. They’re people just like you – with families, jobs and active lifestyles who still find time to give back to their community. Clendenin Fire offers a friendly environment for you to discover your capabilities and make the most of your volunteering investment.

Established in 1951, the Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department is a premier provider of emergency services in Kanawha County, West Virginia – protecting residents and businesses from our primary response area of the Town of Clendenin  and northern Kanawha County. With our primary response area bordering Clay and Roane County, our response area covers over 50 square miles of north-eastern Kanawha County.

We provide comprehensive fire fighting, extrication, specialized rescue, fire prevention education and emergency medical services from our station at Maywood Avenue in the Town of Clendenin. This makes us a convenient place to volunteer for anyone near the Clendenin area.

We are a fully volunteer fire and rescue department as well as a non-profit organization. We have 100% volunteer coverage 24/7,  even on weekends and holidays. We are supported by Kanawha County firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and law enforcement through our county wide mutual aid program.

We take emergency services very seriously. While individuals volunteer to serve their community, our volunteers must realize that the services the department provides are a critical component of the life saving services available to the citizens of our communities. We must be committed to providing our services 24/7/365.

The department currently maintains a fleet of two engine companies, a heavy rescue, a squad company, a tower ladder, and several command and support vehicles.

Clendenin Fires membership is made up of approximately 30 active fire, EMS and administrative/support volunteers and is backed by an extensive network of honorary members.

The Clendenin VFD seeks volunteers to bolster its ranks in a diverse range of services. We offer a long list of benefits including in-house, local and national training, flexible duty assignments, member incentives and events — and most importantly a friendly, fun, professional atmosphere where you’ll find a second family.

We hope you’ll consider joining the CVFD or help us sustain and grow our services with a tax-deductible financial donation.

Clendenin VFD Station

109 Maywood Ave. E Clendenin, WV 25045

The Clendenin Volunteer Fire Departments station is a one and a half story brick building that is sitting in the historic downtown Clendenin, WV. The building sits on the busy street that takes you through the heart of town. The station features eight large bays with beautiful glass doors so that the community members can see the apparatus when they drive by. The station was originally built in 1989 after the old station was outgrown. The building is located at 109 Maywood Avenue East with Koontz Avenue running behind the station. This station houses all of the apparatus owned and operated by the department. It features a large training room, communications room, bathroom, kitchen, and offices. There is also a large open area above the office area for future station expansion. The members take great pride in their station and it is always kept clean and tidy for when kids and families want to stop in and see the trucks.
