Chief Jacob Clendenin

Jacob Clendenin serves as the Chief of the Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department and brings over 14 years of dedicated experience in fire and emergency medical services. His career began at the age of 16 as a volunteer with Clendenin VFD, where he quickly rose through the ranks, eventually serving as Captain over Training before being appointed Chief.

In addition to his volunteer leadership, Jacob is a full-time Lieutenant Paramedic with the Charleston Fire Department, a role he has held for the past eight years. His professional expertise includes extensive operational knowledge in engine and truck company functions, as well as specialized proficiency in technical rescue disciplines. He is recognized for his ability to lead under pressure and his strong commitment to continuous training and education within the fire service.

Jacob is also a respected instructor in the field. He teaches swift water rescue across the country through his work with Spec Rescue International and serves as an instructor for both West Virginia’s Public Service Training and the West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services. A 2013 graduate of George Washington High School in Charleston, WV, Jacob completed his Emergency Technician training while still in high school and has since pursued a wide array of advanced fire service education.

His leadership, instructional experience, and deep-rooted commitment to service reflect his dedication to improving emergency response capabilities both locally and nationally.
