Tower Ladder 1 is a 1972 Mack cab, chassis, and body. The aerial device is manufactured by Baker equipment company. This truck is the first aerial device that Clendenin VFD has owned and operated. We purchased this vehicle in January of 2022. This apparatus is unique in it allows the department to reach taller buildings and homes in our area, and flow large amounts of water from an elevated position. This apparatus responds to all fires within our district and also responds to our boarding districts for specialized incidents. Tower Ladder 1 has a long history as it was originally purchased and operated by the New York City Fire Department from 1972 to 1984. It was then purchased and refurbished by the Russell Fire Department of Kentucky. After that it went to serve with Olive Hill VFD, and Rome Township VFD before finding its home with our department.
